Finding Your Manufacturer's Documentation

Where to find the official user guide, drivers and support for your printer, and how to tell an official site from an imitation.

For anything specific to your model, such as exact menu steps, the right cartridges, error codes and drivers, the manufacturer's own documentation is the authority. Ask Buddy is independent and is not a support channel for any manufacturer.

Find your exact model

The model name or number is usually on the front or top of the printer, and the full model and serial number on a label on the back or underneath. Write both down; you'll need them on the manufacturer's site.

Official manufacturer support sites

Type these addresses yourself rather than following ads or search results that look official:

Outside the United States, use your country's version of the manufacturer's site.

Spotting imitation support sites

Some websites and ads imitate manufacturers to sell "support". Warning signs:

  • A web address that isn't the manufacturer's own domain
  • A pop-up saying your printer or computer has a problem and to call a number
  • Requests for remote access to your computer, or payment by gift card or wire transfer
  • Pressure to act right now

Genuine drivers are free from the manufacturer's site or come through your operating system's updates.

How Ask Buddy fits in

Our experts can explain what a setting or step in the manufacturer's guide means, and help you find the right section. They don't replace the manufacturer: warranty claims, repairs and account issues are for the manufacturer.

Ask Buddy is an independent business. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or authorized by any manufacturer or brand mentioned on this website, and we are not an official support channel for any of them.
